Adelsheim Vineyard was the first winery built in the north Willamette Valley’s beautiful Chehalem Mountains and remains as breathtaking as the day Ginny and David first saw the land.”
With the conviction that Oregon’s cool climate and soils could yield distinctive wine, Ginny and David Adelsheim planted their first grapevines in 1972. To this day, the Adelsheim Vineyard is regarded as a leader in the growth and development of the Oregon wine industry.

Adelsheim Vineyard was the first winery built in the north Willamette Valley’s beautiful Chehalem (sha-HAY-lem) Mountains and remains as breathtaking as the day Ginny and David first saw the land. Drop-in guests are welcomed warmly and invited to taste from a flight of several small production single vineyard Pinot Noirs. But this exceptional winery deserves a closer look.

Visitors are encouraged to call ahead and arrange a special tour based on their particular interests. Winery tours, conducted daily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., take guests though the winemaking facility and barrel caves as they taste along the way. Vineyard tours, conducted on fair weather days at 11 a.m., lead guests on a 30 minute walk through Calkins Lane Vineyard, followed by a tasting on the terrace. Guests who plan a couple of weeks in advance can request the pièce de résistance: a Food and Wine Pairing Luncheon in the winery’s private dining room. Each experience offers a casual, close-up introduction to this pioneering winery.

Beyond producing stellar wines that offer an authentic expression of the Willamette Valley, Adelsheim has worked tirelessly on behalf of Oregon wine as a whole. Here, one fully recognizes the power of the philosophy of "it takes a village." In cooperation with its neighbors, Adelsheim has helped establish the organizations and regulations necessary for an industry’s firm foundation. Now, with a new generation of staff, Adelsheim Vineyard will continue to lead and evolve. And with each vintage, its exceptional wines will skillfully represent the unique characteristics of the Willamette Valley vineyards from which they came.
